Duties
- Assist with excavation tasks using equipment such as excavators, backhoes, dozers, graders, loaders, and water trucks to prepare construction sites.
- Operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in accordance with federal construction safety regulations and company standards.
- Perform routine maintenance on construction machinery including Caterpillar equipment and other utility vehicles to ensure optimal performance.
- Locate underground utilities accurately using utility locating tools to prevent damage during excavation activities.
- Support paving operations by preparing surfaces and assisting with horizontal drilling and tanker functions as needed.
- Follow safety regulations diligently, including federal safety standards, to maintain a secure work environment for all team members.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials using dump trucks or loaders, ensuring proper handling and placement of construction materials.
Experience
- Prior experience working on construction sites with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks.
- Knowledge of construction machinery maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with utility locating techniques and equipment to identify underground services before excavation.
- Experience with horizontal drilling, paving processes, or tanker operations is a plus.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations specific to heavy equipment operation and federal construction standards.
- Construction experience involving the use of Caterpillar machinery or similar brands is highly desirable.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) for operating commercial trucks such as water trucks or dump trucks is preferred but not mandatory for all roles.
