Responsibilities
- Lead excavation activities including trenching, pipe installation, and utility trenching while ensuring adherence to blueprint specifications and construction plans.
- Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and front loader trucks safely and efficiently.
- Oversee the use of hand tools and small machinery for precise tasks like concrete finishing, pipe laser alignment, and welding.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and construction plans to guide excavation and utility system installation projects.
- Manage underground utilities installation including sewer lines, water supply systems, sanitary sewers, stormwater systems, and oil & gas pipelines.
- Conduct utility locating to prevent damage to existing underground infrastructure during trenching activities.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, safety inspections, and project progress for compliance and reporting purposes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction site operations with a focus on excavation, utility installation, or related fields.
- Skilled in heavy equipment operation including dozer, loader operation, backhoe operation, excavator use, forklift handling, and front loader trucks.
- Familiarity with wastewater systems, sanitary drainage systems, stormwater systems, sewer line installation, underground utilities installation, water supply systems, and pipeline projects.
- Ability to operate hand tools effectively for tasks; welding experience is a plus.
- Capable of following detailed instructions for pipe laser alignment and pipe installation procedures using specialized equipment like pipe lasers.
