Job Summary

TestPros is seeking to fill a remote Accessibility Compliance Assessment Consultant role on a Michigan State contract. 

Position: 1099 or Corp. to Corp

Location: Remote (with with possible onsite meeting in Michigan)
Contract Period: February 2026 – February 2027 (with potential renewals)

Role Overview

The Senior Digital Accessibility Consultant will serve as the primary advisor and delivery lead supporting a Michigan State project in achieving and sustaining compliance with federal and State of Michigan digital accessibility requirements. This role combines hands-on remediation, staff training, and governance development, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and internal capacity building ahead of the April 24, 2026 ADA Title II compliance deadline.

The consultant will function as a trusted subject-matter expert, working closely with Authority staff to remediate prioritized public-facing content, establish internal controls, and embed accessibility best practices across digital operations.

Key Responsibilities

Accessibility Strategy & Governance

  • Lead the development and implementation of a digital accessibility remediation and sustainability plan

  • Advise on accessibility governance, internal controls, and workflows aligned with State of Michigan digital standards

  • Support integration of accessibility requirements into procurement and vendor management practices

Document & Media Remediation

  • Perform hands-on remediation of prioritized public-facing digital documents and media, including PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets, and video content

  • Establish remediation standards, templates, and quality assurance practices

  • Provide guidance to staff on creating and maintaining accessible digital content

Training & Capacity Building

  • Design and deliver role-based accessibility training for content creators, developers, administrators, and communications staff

  • Develop recorded training sessions, reference guides, checklists, and other reusable training materials

  • Support adoption of accessible practices as part of daily workflows

Monitoring & Compliance Support

  • Establish processes for monitoring and maintaining ongoing accessibility compliance

  • Advise on testing approaches and prioritization strategies based on risk, usage, and public impact

  • Support validation of remediation efforts prior to project closeout

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for accessibility-related activities

  • Coordinate with internal teams and, as needed, centralized state digital governance entities

  • Provide clear status updates, recommendations, and documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience providing digital accessibility consulting in public-sector or regulated environments

  • Strong working knowledge of:

    • ADA Title II digital accessibility requirements (including April 2026 DOJ rule)

    • WCAG 2.1 Level AA

    • State-level digital accessibility standards and governance models

  • Hands-on experience remediating digital documents and media

  • Experience delivering accessibility training and developing reference materials

  • Ability to translate technical accessibility requirements into practical, repeatable processes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accessibility certifications such as CPACC, WAS, or equivalent

  • Experience supporting state government agencies or large public authorities

  • Experience working within centralized digital governance frameworks

  • Familiarity with accessibility testing tools and manual testing techniques

  • Focuses on sustainable solutions rather than one-time fixes or automated overlays

  • Balances advisory responsibilities with hands-on delivery
