What To Expect
The mission of the workplace planning team is to create environments where Tesla’s high-performing teams can do their best work. We approach every challenge from first principles, aligning around three pillars—Design, Build, and Operate—to optimize space, deliver innovative solutions for rapid expansion, and drive long-term strategy, all guided by a strong commitment to sustainability.

Tesla is seeking a project manager to lead the planning, scoping, and design of high-impact workplace amenities—including cafeterias, break areas, fitness centers, and restrooms—across our Fremont Factory and other manufacturing sites. In this role, you will shape the environments that support our people every day, translating Tesla’s fast-paced, mission-driven culture into functional, inspiring spaces. You will own projects from concept through execution, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver creative, sustainable solutions that elevate the employee experience and scale with our growth.

What You'll Do

  • Lead end-to-end workplace program and project planning, defining scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resources in close partnership with stakeholders across the organization
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets while proactively monitoring progress, identifying opportunities for improvement, and driving on-time, on-budget delivery
  • Assemble and lead cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, resolving challenges, and ensuring alignment from design through construction
  • Anticipate and manage risks early, developing mitigation strategies that protect project outcomes and maintain momentum
  • Coordinate internal teams and external vendors or contractors, overseeing bidding, negotiations, and seamless execution to deliver exceptional results
  • Track performance using tools such as Jira and maintain clear, proactive communication through status updates, meetings, and stakeholder reporting
  • Uphold high quality standards, conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned, and ensure smooth handover to operations and maintenance teams
  • Source, evaluate, and select vendors and suppliers through competitive processes, balancing cost, quality, and risk to achieve the best outcomes

  • What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience, including work with corporate or industrial clients
  • Strong understanding of project financial management, contract administration, budgeting, scheduling, and negotiations
  • Hands-on experience in construction project management, workplace operations, facilities services, or a closely related function
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Bluebeam, and project management tools (MS Project, Jira, Wrike, Primavera, etc.); experience with Revit and AutoCAD is preferred
  • Self-starter who thrives with minimal guidance and takes full ownership of outcomes
  • Passion for exceeding expectations, driving continuous improvement, and creating attractive, efficient workplaces that support seamless operations
  • Ability to translate Tesla’s vision into practical, innovative workplace solutions
