We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Workplace team on a 12-month contract. In this role, you will lead complex laboratory construction and workplace infrastructure projects from planning through completion. Your primary focus will be supporting science and laboratory projects—including new lab builds, renovations, equipment installations, and infrastructure upgrades—while partnering on broader workplace initiatives across our Redwood City and San Francisco campuses.

This is a 12-month contract position with the possibility of conversion to a full-time employee based on business needs and individual performance.

What You’ll Do

• Support day-to-day workplace and facilities projects, responding to evolving business needs and delivering smaller-scale improvements, repairs, and operational initiatives alongside larger capital projects.
• Lead laboratory construction and workplace projects from initiation through close-out, including new lab builds, renovations, equipment installations, infrastructure upgrades, and office improvements.
• Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and project documentation to ensure successful delivery.
• Partner with scientists, Laboratory Operations, Environment, Health & Safety, Information Technology, Security, Facilities, and other cross-functional teams to define requirements and coordinate project execution.
• Manage architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and vendors, including reviewing proposals, negotiating contracts, and ensuring high-quality execution.
• Coordinate permitting, inspections, procurement, commissioning, and installation activities for laboratory infrastructure and specialized equipment.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, resolve issues, and communicate updates to partners throughout the project lifecycle.
• Track project budgets, forecasts, invoices, and expenditures while identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency without compromising quality or schedule.
• Ensure projects comply with applicable building codes, safety regulations, accessibility standards, and internal policies while maintaining accurate project records and close-out documentation.
• Support workplace planning initiatives across Redwood City and San Francisco. 

What You’ll Bring

• 5 years of project management experience supporting laboratory, science, workplace, or commercial construction projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects through the full construction lifecycle, from planning through close-out.
• Strong understanding of construction project delivery methods, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects across different sites and stakeholder groups.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience working with project management software and collaboration tools.
• Willingness to travel periodically to support projects in New York and Chicago.

• Experience supporting workplace or capital projects within biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, or technology organizations.
• Familiarity with laboratory design standards, laboratory infrastructure, and scientific equipment installations.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety requirements and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations.
• Experience managing Moves, Adds, and Changes (MAC) planning and execution.
• PMP (Project Management Professional), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or similar project management certification.

Compensation Range:  $63.94 - $76.92 Hourly 

Work Mode

As we grow, we're excited to strengthen in-person collaboration and cultivate a team-oriented environment. This role is a hybrid position requiring onsite work at least 60% of the working month (approximately three days per week), with primary work taking place in Redwood City and San Francisco. Specific onsite schedules will be determined by the hiring manager.
