What To Expect
This role includes various station assignments including line cook, pastry, and prep. The line cook prepares and plates menu items in a fast paced, round the clock diner environment. The Pastry Cook is responsible for the preparation and execution of all pastry, dessert, and supporting items. The Prep Cook supports kitchen operations by preparing ingredients and components in accordance with established specifications, ensuring readiness for service and maintaining proper inventory levels. You will follow standardized recipes, maintain food safety standards, and help keep service smooth across all shifts.
What You'll Do
Execute Recipes & Station Prep - Follow SOPs for each menu item, measure ingredients, cook to specified times/temperatures, and plate consistently Maintain Station Readiness – Keep your line stocked, organized, and stocked with fresh product; perform FIFO rotation and proper labeling throughout the shift Food Safety & Sanitation – Observe all health code requirements, complete temperature logs, and clean work stations, equipment, and utensils per schedule Speed & Accuracy – Produce orders quickly while meeting quality standards; communicate any delays to the Kitchen Supervisor immediately Team Collaboration – Support fellow cooks, assist with cross training, and step in on other stations during peak periods or staff shortages Waste & Cost Control – Portion accurately, minimize over production, and report any product spoilage or waste to the supervisor Equipment Care – Operate kitchen equipment safely, perform basic cleaning/maintenance, and report malfunctions promptly
