What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Engineer, Material Flow Simulation position at Tesla Motors, Inc.?
Tesla is currently seeking a motivatedManufacturingEngineerwithexpertisein discrete event simulationmodelingtodesignthematerial flowfor Global Factory Design projects. This role focuses onthe end-to-enddesign ofmaterial flow, from conceptdesignthroughhandoffof a fully detailed planto Operations.Thisrole willdesign thematerialinboundprocess, provide material handlingequipmentneeds, specify equipmentto minimize manual handling, andensure thelineside spaceis efficiently designed. This role requiresanunderstanding ofManufacturingEngineeringfundamentalswithasolidproficiencyin simulation modeling. It is critical for a successful applicant to solve problems using firstprinciplesanalysis, and exercise aggressive design optimization.
Theteamis responsible fordeveloping a factory design which supports seamless integration between production, material flow, construction, and facilities teams. Innovation is expected. Through a detailed understanding of the high-level factoryobjectivesand extensive collaboration with the internal and external teams designing individual factory components, this team ensures that the factory design as whole achieves all of Tesla'sobjectives.
The ideal candidate will excel in a demanding and fast-paced environment where they will work as part of a strong, agile, and highly motivated team toaccomplishsome of the most ambitious projects beingattemptedin any industry today. A successfulapplicantwill take pride in their thoroughness, analytical ability, organizational skills, and team mentality. The candidate will be able to think at a systems level about ambiguous problems and use strong logic to develop models thatdriveoptimalfactory design decisions.
