TheManufacturing Automation Development Engineering team islooking for a highly motivated manufacturing engineer to develop and deploy automated equipment at Tesla's world-class facilities. Manufacturing Development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges of our products. This role requires a hands-on engineer to work closely with product, manufacturing, quality, and factory teams to take new designs from initial concept through prototype development and into full production. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a motivated team on challenging projects.
What You'll Do
- Own projects through their entire lifecycle, from initial concept generation through assembly and production bring-up
- Establish equipment requirements and develop line design concepts
- Determine optimal layout of production workstations for product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency
- Work closely with product design team and provide feedback on design for manufacturability
- Develop specifications and manage procurement process of new equipment
- Create detailed project schedules and provide updates to program stakeholders
- Act as central project manager and continually monitor progress of all project inputs
- Coordinate the assembly, validation, and final equipment buy-off
What You'll Bring
- 3 or more years of experience as a hands-on mechanical, manufacturing, or design engineer working on manufacturing systems
- Experience creating technical specifications for automated equipment
- Experience introducing new products and new processes from a prototype environment to production
- Experience with various manufacturing processes (assembly, fastening, dispensing, laser welding, electrical testing)
- Experience designing production line layouts in AutoCAD
- Proficiency designing mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling in SolidWorks
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
