The Failure Analysis Team's mission is todetermineroot cause and contributing factors to improve the experience of Tesla's products by reducing field issues, in collaboration witha communityof other engineering teams. Engineers and technicians on the teamare responsible fora wide variety of vehicle and energy product systems for existing models and models in development. This extremely high visibility individual contributor role requires extensive hands-on work focused on electromechanical failure analysis and root cause activities.
We areseekingan enthusiastic,entry levelengineer who finds enjoyment in understanding how things work and how we can correct and prevent issues from occurring. They willbe responsible forassistancewith diagnosing electromechanical concerns.
A successful candidate will need to become intimately familiar with various analysis techniques involving non-destructive and destructive techniques. Examples of those include capturing and understanding 2D X-ray data, mechanical sample preparation,assembly tear down, cross sectioning,basic electrical fault isolation, and summarizing findings while reporting mechanism and cause of failure.They will work alongside experienced engineers whileutilizingsophisticated failure analysis tools toidentifyfailure mechanismsobservedin engineering, production, and field environments.

What You'll Do
- Support failure analysis activities for electromechanical assemblies with basic failure confirmation&recreation, teardown inspections, documentationwhile paired with critical thinking todeterminefailure mechanisms
- Utilizing basic and analytical tools covering various analysis techniques. Examples include hand tools, logging DMM, grinder&polishers, precision diamond saws, 2D Xray systems, and elemental identification tools
- Documenting the steps through sample inspections, replication tests, and teardowns. Examplesincludinguse of Word, Excel, project tracking systems such as Jira, visual&optical image capture
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronicsorequivalent relevant experience
- 1year of hands-on experience working in an analytical lab, as an automotive technician,or similar highlighting dexterous ability and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with deconstructing electrical of electromechanical assemblies to their subcomponents, while being able toidentifytypes of sub-components of an assembly
- Capability to fully dissemble and reassemble electromechanicalassembliesmaintainingfunctionality and form of original state
- Demonstrate understanding of automotive electromechanical assemblies and their theories of operation
- Experience with advanced tools typically involved in electromechanical failure analysissuch asoscilloscopes, CAN/LIN tools, tensile testing systems, pressure/leak testers, and machineshop equipment

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
