This is an opportunity to work in the Cell Qualification group which is responsible for testing and qualifying Tesla's next-generation Li-ion battery cells and developing new cell test methods. We are looking for a Lab Maintenance Technician to join our Gigafactory Nevada Cell Characterization Lab and lead day-to-day lab maintenance operations.
What You'll Do
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on various electrical and mechanical equipment and tools, following established procedures and user manuals
- Conduct hands-on electrical testing and data collection
- Utilize PC-based programs to document maintenance schedules and tasks performed
- Troubleshoot and resolve test equipment issues to ensure optimal uptime and accuracy
- Collect portable test equipment for calibration and update calibration records
- Lead/support equipment installation, test fixture/cabinet assembly, and validation
- Report lab or process issues and assist in identifying solutions
- Support operational tasks to maintain a world-class lab environment by organizing lab benches and stock rooms, refilling fluids for chillers and humidity chambers, and tracking spare parts and consumable hardware for reordering, etc.
What You'll Bring
- Knowledge in electrical or mechanical engineering fundamentals
- Experience maintaining and trouble-shooting laboratory equipment such as multimeters, battery cyclers, temperature chambers, water circulation chillers, vacuum systems, and/or power tools
- Ability to read and interpret complex schematics, mechanical drawings, vacuum diagrams, flow charts, OEM manuals, instructions, and tool guides
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. as required
- High attention to detail and the ability to execute test procedures with a high level of accuracy
- Proficient in Windows and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication/team skills and internal customer orientation
