What are the responsibilities and job description for the Terrain Design Manager position at Terrain?
The Design Manager leads our Design Services team that creates floral and container design projects in-store, off-site, and in private residential settings. They also design and execute projects for Terrain events. The Design Manager is responsible for driving sales by providing the highest level of service through expert knowledge, design, and leadership for the Design Services program. They along with a team of Artisans uphold terrain’s four promises: to welcome, to inspire, to inform and to appreciate our customer.
Customer Experience
- CUSTOMER CONNECTION: Build genuine, long-lasting relationships through personalized attention; guides customer choices to reflect their unique personal style. Work with customers using creative event and residential proposals, to achieve both maximum revenue/profit potential while exceeding customer expectations.
- VISUAL ENVIRONMENT: understands terrain retail concepts and partners with design leadership to create a cohesive environment through compelling plant installations and displays.
- BRAND AND INDUSTRY CONNECTION: exhibits an understanding of and interest in home and garden trends in art, style, color, design, and architecture; translates trends and customer needs into brand appropriate designs.
Teamwork Communication
- CONTRIBUTE: takes initiative and works productively solo or within a team to achieve design goals; actively participates in daily meetings and shares relevant information regarding plant design projects
- BUILD RELATIONSHIPS: builds and maintains productive partnerships with members of the store team contributing to a culture of strong communication and teamwork; is open and responsive to feedback.
- COMMUNICATION LOOP: communicates daily with the Design team on client consultations, design details, and project updates; manages client design file and ensures prompt customer communication with project inquires.
Visual Business Operations
- PLANNING AND PRIORITIZATION: Conceptualize and execute high end event design and residential projects incorporating innovative use of colors, floral and textural materials and vessels, while meeting established criteria for Terrain aesthetic and cost of goods.
- DISPLAY EXECUTION AND MAINTENANCE: Lead and participate in the execution and setup of installations and events. Understands and applies design principles to execute projects with high level of craft; maintains cleanliness and organization of back of house studio areas.
- AWARENESS: adheres to store’s safety standards, inventory accuracy, reduction of product loss, and upholds all company policy and procedures to support the profitability of the store.
Salary : $59,600 - $75,400
