Working Superintendent
(Hands-On | Green New Construction, Remodels & Missing Middle Housing)
Terra Futura Builders — Asheville, NC - Spanish fluency preferred
About Terra Futura Builders
Terra Futura Builders is a values-driven residential construction company based in Asheville, North Carolina. We specialize in new construction, missing middle housing, duplexes, ADUs, basement build-outs, and remodels, with an emphasis on Gold-Level Green Built certification, healthy materials, and practical, durable building.
Our work is rooted in building next-step homes and communities that are deeply livable, health-forward, and designed to support real connection—between neighbors, families, and place. We focus on creating homes that are durable, low-toxicity, and thoughtfully constructed, intentionally reducing waste and chemical load while remaining practical, code-compliant, and financially viable. We enjoy working creatively within zoning and building regulations to expand what is possible in infill and missing middle housing, developing repeatable models that can serve homeowners, investors, and the broader community. We love Asheville and its character, and we build homes and communities that reflect, respect, and strengthen the place we call home.
Terra Futura is a small, collaborative team that includes a designer/architect founder, an organizational leader founder, a qualifier/consultant, a project & logistics coordinator, and on-site construction lead.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Working Superintendent who is comfortable and experienced overseeing residential construction projects while also performing hands-on construction work as part of their normal workweek.
This role is involved with the day-to-day field execution of multiple residential job sites, including new construction, duplexes, ADUs, basement build-outs, and remodels. When not coordinating subcontractors, inspections, or sequencing, this person is expected to be actively working on site, completing in-between scope items that keep projects moving efficiently and reduce unnecessary subcontracting.
The Working Superintendent serves as the primary on-site point of contact for troubleshooting, quality control, and task coordination, reducing the need for owner involvement in routine operational decisions.
Spanish fluency is preferred and will be compensated according to demonstrated ability. A fluency test will be given to final candidates.
This is a practical, field-based role for someone who values quality, safety, and steady progress.

- Involved with day-to-day field operations across assigned projects
- Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors on site
- Supervise, teach, and train site support staff and coordinate daily work flow
- Coordinate sequencing, site readiness, and inspections (in collaboration with the Project & Logistics Coordinator)
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
- Ensure work aligns with plans, code requirements, and Green Built standards
- Identify issues early and implement practical, field-based solutions
- Participate in brief daily check-ins and a weekly coordination meeting
This role focuses on field supervision and execution and is not responsible for office administration, bookkeeping, contract management, or HR/disciplinary duties.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a superintendent, site supervisory, or equivalent hands-on construction role
- Intermediate to strong working knowledge of residential construction practices and NC building code
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and details
- Comfortable switching between field supervision and physical construction work
- Experience with remodels, basement build-outs, ADUs, duplexes, or small multifamily strongly preferred
- Experience with utilities, sewer, water, and site coordination is a plus
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel between local job sites
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, with occasional weekends as needed
Physical Requirements (HR / Legal)
This position requires the ability to:
- Regularly lift and carry up to 75 pounds without assistance
