Terra also provides engineering/design build services for earth retention and deep foundation structures.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Terra Engineering & Construction Corporation, an employee-owned company, has an opportunity for a Full-time Civil/CAD Technician (CCT) based out of Madison, WI. The CCT will be primarily responsible for field survey and CAD processes. The CCT will also support Estimators and Project Managers in bidding and determining the price of products or services to be offered throughout the duration of projects.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES
CAD/General Duties
· Generate models used for takeoffs.
· Analyze blueprints, perform takeoffs and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
· Develop/draft preliminary shop drawings for in house design/build projects
· Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
· Review material and labor requirements to select components.
· Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
· Prepare estimates to be used by management for planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
Survey Duties
· Ability to work as part of a team, take direction from Supervisors, and keep required work schedule.
· Construction staking preparation.
· Must have a strong attention to details, be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and follow work rules.
· Coordinate and complete field survey with the use of handheld GPS or Total Station.
· Perform layout and as-built surveys for earth retention and utility projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications
· Civil Engineering Technology Degree
· Minimum 0 to 3 years of experience
· Excellent verbal and written communication to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
· Strong attention to detail
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Products including Word and Excel
· Technical knowledge of surveying principles, coordinate systems, and construction layout methods.
· Computer Aided Design (CAD) software proficiency
· Trimble Business Center and GPS experience preferred.
