Position Summary
The General Shop Laborer is responsible for operating production equipment, assisting in the manufacturing and assembly of axle products, and preparing axles for shipment. This role follows blueprints, guidelines, and diagrams to ensure products meet all specifications and tolerances. The position maintains accurate production records and promptly reports any inconsistencies or equipment concerns.
On-the-job training will be provided.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
-Familiarity with hand tools
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Welding experience is a plus but not required
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate power tools and equipment, including:
• Table saw
• Drill press
• Band saw
• Lathe
• Forklift
- Assist with machine operations as needed to support production output
- Clean and prepare axles for gearing
- Perform woodworking tasks to prepare axle shipments
- Accurately read and complete written work orders, including pulling correct parts from designated warehouse locations
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment
- Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to safely perform duties in a shop environment with exposure to:
• Loud noises
• Sparks, debris, and welding flash
• Varying temperatures and physical tasks
