LOCATION: This is a traveling position requiring travel to different project sites across the United States. Pay range: $26.84 - $34.89 per hour per diem for travelers 95 miles from the job site. ABOUT THE JOB The Tepa Companies are seeking an Industrial Painter to assist with the performance of tasks involving surface preparation and the application of industrial coatings in a safe and efficient manner to support commercial and government services and meet or exceed the required quality, safety, and profitability goals. Job Functions: Perform tasks involving surface preparation and application of industrial coatings to aboveground storage tanks and other surfaces as applicable to coatings and linings projects in a safe, productive manner and good workmanship manner Perform a variety of tasks involving manual labor associated with painting and other industrial coating operations tasks for commercial and government services Perform coatings related activities including but not limited to tending to and operating abrasive blast equipment, shoveling spent blast abrasive, mixing industrial coatings, and accurately applying industrial coatings to specified thicknesses Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards Perform materials handling and storage Load/unload trucks and hauls/hoists materials Participate with direct supervisor in all planning operations as required Respond quickly and effectively to changing site conditions. Assess changed conditions and communicates them to direct supervisor Support the investigation of all safety and health incidents Keep an open line of communication with other staff on site for any aspects of task execution and completion Complete delegated tasks to support cost performance goals for assigned project work sites Adhere to Tepa and Goshawk Safety and Health policies and procedures to prevent injuries and/or illnesses on assigned project work sites Actively participate in quarterly and annual performance evaluation meetings with Supervisor to identify potential areas of professional development as well as deficiencies and plans for improvement WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR High school diploma or GED, and demonstrated above average proficiency in both oral and written communication with the fundamental knowledge of mathematics demonstrated by the ability to solve a variety of problems that can be modeled or solved by quantitative means 2 years of experience with large scale, multi-phased industrial coatings projects including internal and external tank coatings that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform required work for the Coatings & Linings Service Line Experience using Personal Protective Equipment 18-24 months of general construction experience with experience in API 650 tanks and Petrochemical industry (preferred, but not required) Ability to listen, understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instruction Familiar with general construction including OSHA requirements Proficient in accurately applying industrial coatings at specified thickness to complex industrial structures by brush and roll application Proficient in mixing industrial coatings Knowledge of operating industrial painting equipment such as abrasive blast pots, conventional spray pots/guns, airless spray pumps/guns, and plural component spray equipment Knowledge of SSPC surface preparation standards Proficient in abrasive blasting complex industrial structures per SSPC standards. Proficient in manual labor associated with industrial coatings, construction trades, crafts and maintenance, and repair tasks Ability to proactively address potential unsafe conditions Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency Strong work ethic and ability to work well with others Must be willing to travel Have reliable transportation to and from work sites Must be able to pass a background check required to access US military installations Must have a valid driver’s license Pass baseline and annual medical examinations as applicable Weekend work and/or work requiring extended periods away from home National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) member (preferred, not required) Steel Structural Painting Council member (SSPC Level 2) (preferred, not required) Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans Tepa is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
