What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Owner position at Tential Solutions?
Senior Product Owner – IRA & HSA Platform Integration Contract | Remote | Financial Services | FTE Conversion Target: ~$125K
We are recruiting a Senior Product Owner for a long-term platform initiative with a leading retirement and savings services company. This role supports a cross-functional Agile team building a single-source data entry platform that integrates a core internal system with external banking platforms — spanning IRA and HSA administration. The goal is eliminating duplicate data entry across systems by creating a unified integration layer connecting internal platforms, a core banking system, and two active outside vendors with live development dependencies.
Important note on compensation: This role has strong FTE conversion potential with a target base salary of approximately $125K. If your market rate is significantly above that range, this may not be the right fit (the salary isn't going to flex) — but for the right candidate, this is a stable, long-term opportunity with a well-regarded company in the retirement services space.

What The Role Requires
The hiring manager was specific about what wins here:
- Strong complex planning — managing a structured, multi-phase roadmap across a long project timeline with 20 sequential core rollouts
- Early dependency identification — surfacing risks and blockers proactively, especially across two active external vendor relationships with real development dependencies
- Proactive risk and impediment management — bringing mitigation plans and solutions forward before problems escalate
- Options-based communication — clearly articulating trade-offs, presenting options, and making recommendations to senior leadership rather than just escalating issues
- Delivery orientation — core direction and requirements are largely defined; this is an execution role, not a greenfield strategy position
- Domain experience – IRA, HSA, or Retirement product industry experience highly preferred
- Own and maintain the product backlog; ensure stories are well-defined, prioritized, and sprint-ready
- Write detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria
- Lead planning efforts across internal teams and two external vendor partners with active development dependencies
- Identify, track, and communicate cross-team and cross-vendor dependencies proactively
- Coordinate release planning across 20 phased core rollouts
- Serve as primary point of contact for delivery updates across business and technology stakeholders
- Communicate clearly at senior leadership level — options, trade-offs, and recommendations
- Actively participate in all Agile ceremonies: standups, refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
- Partner with the BA on the team for requirements, testing, and acceptance validation
- Maintain roadmap data and delivery progress in Aha! or equivalent tooling
- 5–10 years of Agile product development experience, with 5 years specifically in a Product Owner role
- Domain experience in retirement, investment, IRA/HSA, or financial services — this is the single biggest differentiator for this client
- Experience managing delivery with external vendor dependencies and multi-system API integrations
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, phased roadmaps in a structured program environment
- Strong communication skills — able to present trade-offs and recommendations to senior leadership clearly
- Highly organized, proactive, and delivery-focused
- Experience with Aha!, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
- SAFe or equivalent Agile framework experience preferred
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder required
- Type: Contract with strong FTE conversion potential (target conversion salary ~$125K base)
- Location: Remote (East Coast hours preferred)
- Start: ASAP
- Eligibility: U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder only
Salary : $125,000
