About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Metlab Supervisor II to lead a high‑performing metallurgical and mechanical testing laboratory. This leader will oversee daily lab operations, ensure high-quality testing outputs, and guide a unionized technician workforce with consistency, technical expertise, and strong leadership presence.

What You’ll Do
âś… Lead, coach, and develop lab technicians within a union environment
âś… Oversee metallography, metallurgy, and mechanical testing operations
âś… Maintain lab quality standards, safety compliance, SOPs, and testing protocols
âś… Manage equipment calibration, maintenance schedules, and supply procurement
âś… Ensure accurate test reporting, data integrity, and audit readiness
âś… Support production, engineering, and quality teams with technical insights
✅ Maintain reliable attendance and provide consistent leadership across off‑shift operations
What We’re Looking For
Required
- High school diploma or bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, or related field
- 5 years experience in metallurgy or quality lab environments (7 preferred)
- 1–2 years minimum supervisory experience (3 preferred)
- Hands-on knowledge of metallography, mechanical testing, and lab quality practices
- Proven leadership in a unionized setting
- Strong communication, reliability, and team-building skills
Preferred
- Background as a metallurgist or mechanical testing expert
- Experience writing and maintaining SOPs
- Familiarity with equipment calibration and preventative maintenance programs
Salary : $75,000 - $95,000
