Quality Specialist
A Quality Specialist opportunity with a leading producer and distributor of premium specialty alloys, including titanium alloys, nickel and cobalt based superalloys, stainless steels, alloy steels and tool steels used within the aerospace, transportation, medical, and energy spaces for critical applications.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES FOR THE QUALITY SPECIALIST:
Recommends improvements in process and product Quality at Carpenter to increase First Time Through (FTT).
Provides support in the establishment of Critical to Quality measures (CTQ), Key Process Characteristics (KCC), Key Control Characteristics (KCC), control plans and FMEA.
Increase customer satisfaction by reducing claims, remakes, scrap and deviations from standard work.
Identify and recommend improvements in critical work center Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Effectively detect and solve standard quality issues to prevent recurrence using appropriate quality strategies, tools, and techniques with assistance of higher-level Quality Specialists.
Stabilize processes and implement statistical process controls (SPC) to establish and maintain process capability using statistical methods.
Apply inspection, measurement and sampling methods and participates in method improvements. (MSA)
Participates as an active team member in developing robust processes as part of the New Product Introduction (NPI).
Maintain policies and procedures related to AS9100, Nadcap, ISO9001, and other related standards company-wide.
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO17025, AS9100 and/or Nadcap standards, with preference for the aerospace standards.
Knowledge of quality systems management.
Knowledge of auditing principles.
Familiarity with metrology techniques.
REQUIRED FOR THE QUALITY SPECIALIST:
High School Diploma required; four-year college degree preferred.
Two to four years of relevant experience.
PREFERRED FOR THE QUALITY SPECIALIST:
Ability to participate in or facilitate cross-functional teams to resolve white space issues.
Problem solving skills to include check sheet, Pareto diagram, cause-and-effect diagram, graphs, control charts, histogram and scatter diagram.
Ability to apply continuous improvement methods, such as Practical Problem Solving (PPS), Six Sigma, Lean principles and Error Proofing as team participant or facilitator.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
Ability to perform independent work on straightforward assignments with coaching by higher level engineer, supervisor or manager on more complex assignments.
Ability to work in a production environment.
Ability to operate a computer workstation.
Verbal and written communication skills. Design skills.
Basic project management skills.
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
