We're looking for a EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) Engineer responsible for driving workplace and product safety across complex, heavy‑manufacturing environments. The position independently identifies and controls occupational hazards, leads major safety initiatives, and provides expert guidance on structural and engineering‑related safety issues. It manages multi‑disciplinary EHS projects, ensures regulatory compliance, and oversees audits, investigations, contractor safety, and construction management programs.
The ideal candidate is a recognized subject‑matter expert with deep technical knowledge, strong leadership skills, and extensive experience implementing enterprise‑level safety programs.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead identification, analysis, and mitigation of occupational hazards.
- Provide expert structural safety guidance, including failure mode analysis.
- Design and implement protective systems, equipment, and safety devices.
- Create and review safety policies, guidelines, and corporate standards.
- Lead safety efforts for corporate acquisitions.
- Manage large, complex, cross‑functional EHS projects (budget, staffing, timelines).
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and best practices.
- Conduct internal audits, accident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Review plans/specs for machinery, equipment, and new facilities.
- Deliver safety training and evaluate its effectiveness.
- Oversee contractor safety and construction management programs.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in safety science or engineering (required).
- CSP, CIH, or similar safety certification (preferred).
- Master’s degree in a related field (strong plus).
- 10 years of safety/EHS experience, ideally in heavy manufacturing.
- Proven track record leading complex, multi‑disciplinary project teams.
- Recognized expertise in occupational safety and engineering controls.
- Strong project management, budgeting, and resource‑planning skills.
