Operations & Reliability Technician – Job Description
Overview
This role combines hands‐on plant operations with system reliability responsibilities to ensure safe, efficient, and stable performance across both physical process equipment and supporting technical systems. The position requires strong mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation aptitude, along with the ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize both plant operations and digital infrastructure. A proactive, analytical mindset and the ability to work independently are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations & Performance Monitoring
• Actively monitor and assess plant performance to ensure optimal efficiency, functionality, and safety.
• Conduct routine rounds, surveying plant operations, grounds, and equipment.
• Take readings on critical systems, observe functionality, and document abnormalities for corrective action.
• Maintain stable operation of process equipment and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Calibration, Maintenance & Technical Documentation
• Perform routine analytical calibrations and adjustments on plant instrumentation and equipment.
• Use calibration standards, inspection tools, testing equipment, and calibration gas cylinders.
• Safely execute planned maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, manuals, and documentation to support operations and troubleshooting.
System Reliability & Technical Infrastructure
• Monitor and maintain system performance for non‐core digital products and supporting infrastructure.
• Utilize containers and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Apply scripting or programming skills (e.g., Python, Bash) to automate operational tasks.
• Support incident management processes, including root cause analysis and long‐term corrective actions.
• Implement automation to improve reliability, reduce manual work, and enhance system stability.
Compliance & Quality Systems
• Ensure adherence to FDA, QMS, and cGMP requirements.
• Follow all applicable procedures and internal quality systems to maintain compliance and operational integrity.
Qualifications
Required
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in industrial gas, cryogenics, military technical roles, continuous process facilities, or similar environments.
• General knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Experience with tools and equipment used for mechanical, electrical, and electronic maintenance.
• Familiarity with system monitoring, performance assessment, and troubleshooting.
Preferred
• Associate degree or technical school certification.
• Experience with both mechanical and electrical instrumentation.
• Background in containers, orchestration tools, and automation scripting.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve issues in both plant and system environments.
