Job Summary:
The Sewing Machine Operator 1 is responsible for the fabrication of tents, sidewalls, and other vinyl products which are produced. The role includes operating equipment such as cutting machines, sewing machines, and manual assembly.

- Ability to perform sewing functions using needles, scissors, and other items necessary for Tent manufacturing.

- Ability to work well independently, as well as a vital member of a team
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks
Job Specification:
1. A minimum of a High School Diploma
2. Ability to read, write clearly and do simple math
3. English as a primary language
4. Good verbal communication skills
5. Must be able to work with others
Skills and Abilities:
1. Understanding of Technical Drawings/Prints
2. Spoken and written English communication skills
3. Ability to read tape measure/ruler
Working Climate:
1. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
a. Lifting of a rolled tent approximately 20”x 20” x 36” weighing up to 50lbs
b. Team lifting a rolled tent approximately 20”x 20” x 36” weighing up to 150lbs, not to exceed 50lb per individual.
c. Folding/Rolling of Large Tents upto 150lbs in sections. Individual sections are less than the full weight of the tent.
d. Lift Sidewall(s) to perform sewing operations upto 50lbs.
e. Pull rolls of raw material(<=50lbs) from storage locations and move to sewing area.
2. Positions of material for assembly by equipment.
a. Pulling and pushing of sections of tents weighing upto 50lbs for sewing operations
b. Pushing and pushing of Sidewalls weighing upto 50lbs for sewing operations.
c. Pulling and pushing of sections of tent accessories weighing upto 50lbs for sewing operations
3. Able to stand, sit, walk, lift, and reach for a full 8-hour day.
a. Sit at a sewing machine pulling PVC fabrics through sewing machine. Tents and sidewalls sections which weigh upto 50lbs.
b. Sit at a sewing machine pulling PVC fabrics through sewing machine with a team assist. Tents and sidewalls sections which weight upto 150lbs. Individual sections are less than the full weight of the tent.
c. Moving from a sitting position to standing or kneeling to perform operations such are installing rope, cutting, inspection, and other task. Typical 4 to 6 times per hour, and is subject to change based on daily production items.
4. Must be physically able to function within all process steps of the department.
a. Material Handling of Vinyl Products up to 50lb, sewing of vinyl products, Folding, measuring, cutting of vinyl products up to 50lb.
