Experienced Landscape Technician

Tenney Lawn & Landscape is looking for an experienced, dependable, and hard-working Landscape Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on position for someone with proven experience in landscaping, outdoor construction, equipment operation, or a related field.

The ideal candidate has strong general know-how, is comfortable operating heavy equipment and power tools, and can confidently handle day-to-day job-site responsibilities with limited supervision. You should be mechanically minded, safety-conscious, able to solve problems in the field, and capable of producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities:

- Perform landscape installation, enhancement, cleanup, and outdoor construction work
- Operate and maintain commercial landscaping and construction equipment
- Safely use power tools, hand tools, and outdoor equipment
- Operate equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, trenchers, compactors, loaders, and other small-engine machinery
- Safely operate chainsaws, pole saws, string trimmers, edgers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and other landscape tools
- Load, secure, haul, and unload equipment, materials, debris, trailers, and job-site supplies
- Tow and maneuver landscaping trailers safely
- Assist with planting, pruning, irrigation, drainage, hardscape preparation, grading, material installation, and property cleanups
- Read and follow job instructions, layouts, measurements, and basic project plans
- Work efficiently and safely while maintaining quality standards
- Identify equipment, material, and job-site issues and communicate solutions to the team lead
- Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, fueling, and basic maintenance
- Troubleshoot common equipment and job-site problems
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe truck, trailer, equipment area, and job site
- Work professionally around customers, homes, vehicles, utilities, and landscaping features
- Help train and support less-experienced team members when needed
- Take responsibility for completing assigned work correctly and on schedule

Required Qualifications:

- At least 2 years of recent experience in landscaping, landscape construction, excavation, forestry, farming, hardscaping, or a related outdoor trade
- Proven experience operating power tools and commercial outdoor equipment
- Experience with chainsaws and other cutting equipment
- Experience towing and hauling trailers
- General mechanical knowledge and the ability to perform basic equipment troubleshooting
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
- Ability to understand and follow plans, measurements, instructions, and safety procedures
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
- Professional communication and a positive attitude
- Safety-conscious approach to equipment operation and job-site work
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and meet company driving requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience operating skid steers, mini excavators, trenchers, loaders, compactors, or similar equipment
- Experience with irrigation installation or repair
- Experience with grading, drainage, hardscape preparation, planting, pruning, or landscape construction
- Experience pulling equipment trailers or utility trailers
- CDL or additional equipment certifications
- Small-engine repair or equipment maintenance experience

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in changing weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work on uneven terrain
- Ability to safely operate equipment and tools for extended periods
- Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the workday

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who already has practical field experience and can contribute productively from the start. You should be comfortable around equipment, tools, trailers, and active job sites, while still being willing to learn our systems and standards.

If you are experienced, dependable, mechanically minded, and take pride in quality outdoor work, we would like to hear from you.
