Duties
- Perform lawn care tasks including mowing, edging, fertilizing, aerating, and weed control to keep turf healthy and vibrant.
- Maintain landscape features such as planting beds, shrubs, trees, and flower displays with pruning, trimming, and planting.
- Operate hand tools (shovels, rakes, pruners) and power tools (trimmers, blowers, chainsaws) safely and efficiently for various landscaping tasks.
- Use heavy machinery like excavators for site preparation or hardscape installation such as patios or retaining walls.
- Install and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of landscapes.
- Conduct snow plowing operations during winter months to keep pathways clear and safe.
- Assist with landscape construction projects including hardscape installation, tree planting, and garden bed creation.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge to operate and troubleshoot landscaping equipment and power tools.
- Experience with lawn care practices including mowing, fertilizing, aeration, and pest management.
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques such as pruning, trimming, planting, and soil preparation.
- Familiarity with landscaping design principles and hardscape construction methods.
- Ability to handle hand tools effectively for gardening, planting, or minor repairs.
- Experience operating excavators or similar heavy machinery for large-scale projects.
- Understanding of tree care practices including trimming, pruning, planting, and health assessment.
- Basic horticulture knowledge to identify plant species and ensure healthy growth.
- Skills in irrigation system installation and maintenance for efficient water management.
- Ability to perform snow plowing safely during winter conditions.
- Construction experience related to landscape projects or outdoor installations is a plus.
