Community Engagement Specialist - Part Time East

Summary: The Community Engagement Specialist supports the ICC services by mobilizing communities to address the emotional and behavioral health needs of youth, young adults, and families.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for fulfilling all duties related to emergency preparedness, evacuation, and client safety, including support of individuals who may not be capable of self-preservation, in accordance with TN Voices Employee Policies and TN State Department regulations and CARF Standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversees, coordinates, and implements all activities related to planning, coordinating, and implementing support for community engagement specialist following the system of care model.
• Provides direct supervision of the Community Engagement and daily program operations.
• Mobilize communities to effectively respond to youth, young adult, adult and family emotional and behavioral health needs    
• Manage outreach efforts utilizing a broad range of techniques and strategies including TNV website, social media, and email communication.
• Design and implement outreach and engagement strategies that increase the number of individuals enrolled in service delivery efforts.
• Serves as an active leader on established community coalitions and assists communities without coalitions to establish effective ones.
• Plan and implement community engagement outreach activities.
• Identify and build professional relationships with local government and community-based organizations that serve children and families.
• Provide community-based training as needed for communities and families.
• Collaborates with the Program Director on program scope of services, implementation, and sustainability.
• Connect parents and community partners together to share their knowledge, skills and resources with a common goal of improving children’s mental health.
• Provide community training and education events in the community to bring awareness to the system of care and TN Voices programs.
• Establish local community teams to promote system of care principles and core values through education and training.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance while accurately recording and managing time keeping records to ensure seamless operations and contributions to team productivity.
• Uphold and promote the organization’s values, mission and ethical standards in all interactions
• Coordinate training opportunities for youth, young adults, adults and families, community stakeholders and other agencies.
• Create and participate in outreach and educational activities within the community.
• Complete Community Engagement Specialist Monthly Report and others as needed in a timely manner.
• Attend meetings assigned which may include local and regional mental health planning councils and local collaborative agency meetings.
• Ensure that TNV conforms to CARF standards applicable to the services provided.
• Other duties and/or tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in social or behavioral science or closely related field or three (3) or more years of work experience in the field required.
• Master’s degree in social or behavioral science or closely related field preferred.
• Experience working with children/youth and families with significant behavioral health needs.
• Non-profit organization experience and work history within child serving systems strongly preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and Peer Support Certification (CPRS, CYAP, or CFFSP) or be eligible to obtain the certification

• Knowledge of the developmental, mental, emotional, relational, and social needs of children, youth, and young adults.
• Capable of mobilizing diverse populations.
• Facilitate individual and team-based supervision meetings.
• Personal experience navigating systems impacting children, youth, and young adults who have emotional/behavioral disorders.
• Ensures that all data and reports are properly managed and documented in a timely manner.
• Knowledge and experience navigating child-serving and adult serving systems.
• Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner to diverse populations.
• Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving/creative thinking skills.
• Experience in public speaking and community engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to develop formal and natural support systems and access needed resources.
• Basic computer skills and writing skills.
• Access to reliable home internet service required.

Performance Evaluation: Employees are evaluated on an annual basis.  Performance Reviews are completed electronically by the employee’s direct supervisor then reviewed and approved by regional or program leadership.  Employees are given the opportunity to review their performance evaluation with their supervisor and will be required to acknowledge receipt of the annual review electronically
