What Youll Do
- Provide direct physical therapy services under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physicians plan of care and state practice guidelines
- Assist patients in relieving pain, restoring function, and achieving maximum performance
- Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer activities, and functional mobility tasks
- Administer non-complex treatments such as therapeutic exercises, massage, traction, and physical modalities (heat, cold, water, and electrical stimulation)
- Instruct, motivate, and support patients in improving functional abilities
- Observe patient progress and report findings to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Assist with clinical documentation and ensure timely submission of notes and progress reports
- Report changes in patient condition to the supervising Physical Therapist and Director of Nursing/Director of Therapy
- Educate patients on the use of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Associates degree in science or applied science) approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
- Current PTA license in the state of practice
- At least one (1) year of experience as a PTA (preferred)
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to perform home visits and provide care in a home environment
- Reliable transportation, valid drivers license, and current automobile insurance
