Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide individualized classroom and lab instruction to high school and adult students to prepare them for careers in welding.
- Demonstrate and explain welding techniques (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, OFC, and PAC) in classroom and lab settings.
- Monitor, grade, and evaluate individual students’ progress.
- Maintain appropriate records and submit timely reports.
- Assist in recruitment and placement of students.
- Maintain good public relations with business and industry and maintain an active advisory board.
- High school diploma or equivalent (HiSET acceptable).
- Postsecondary diploma or A.A.S. in Welding or related field preferred.
- AWS Certification Level I or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- 3 years of approved work experience in the welding occupation:
- Experience with SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, OFC, and PAC using various materials.
- Fabrication and blueprint reading experience.
- Technical teaching experience a plus.
- Proficient in the principles and practices of the welding industry.
- Skilled in using industry-standard tools and equipment.
- Capable of teaching students tool use, layout interpretation, and blueprint reading for fabrication.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other common software programs.
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills for effective teaching.
- Ability to work effectively with high school and adult learners and to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with students, staff, faculty, industry partners, and the public.
- Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labeling and policy a plus.
- Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs. and move around the teaching area to demonstrate and perform occupational tasks (with or without accommodation).
- OSHA 10 certification preferred.
