Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Client Services, the computer technician is primarily responsible for installing, upgrading, configuring, and troubleshooting computers, peripherals, and software.
Job Duties
- Install, upgrade, configure, troubleshoot, and repair computers, peripherals, and software applications
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair networked and locally connected printers and scanners
- Assist with inventory of printer supplies, toner, and related consumables
- Assist with inventory of laptops and mobile device checkout for faculty, staff, and students.
- Assist with the checkout, return, and tracking of laptops and mobile devices for faculty, staff, and students
- Assist with installation, upgrade, and maintenance of computer network equipment and software
- Assist end-users with technology issues
- Associate Degree in Computer Science or a related field with emphasis in hardware and networking OR two years’ work experience and CompTIA A certification.
- A minimum of two years of work experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing computers, computer peripherals, computer network equipment and cabling, and software.
- Work experience to include wireless technology, multimedia technology, virus and anti-spam protection techniques, Microsoft Office 365, latest versions of Microsoft Windows and MAC operating systems, and desktop and laptop computers.
- Professional experience in a higher education environment
- Working knowledge of current AI technologies and tools, including generative AI, with the ability to use these technologies securely and in accordance with organizational data protection and other institutional policies.
- Technology Skills: MS Office skills, Word, Excel, Outlook; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
- Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
