About The Role

The EHS Intern supports the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team at the Plymouth Technical Center (PTC) by helping maintain safe work practices, supporting compliance activities, and improving EHS processes that protect employees, visitors, and contractors. In this role, you’ll work alongside EHS team members to help keep documentation current, support training and communication efforts, and assist with routine inspections and follow-up on corrective actions. This internship provides hands-on exposure to EHS programs in a technical center environment—where work may occur in offices, labs, and test areas—and is a great opportunity to build practical skills in safety systems, regulatory awareness, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support EHS inspections and observations across office, lab, and test areas; track findings and corrective actions
  • Assist with EHS documentation (procedures, signage, forms, SDS organization, and compliance records)
  • Help coordinate and track EHS training (rosters, completion, reminders, and record retention)
  • Support incident/near-miss reporting follow-up by organizing details, tracking actions, and updating logs
  • Assist with emergency preparedness activities (drills support, equipment checks, communications, and postings)
  • Support environmental/waste program tracking as applicable (labels, accumulation area checks, documentation)
  • Maintain trackers/dashboards for leading indicators (inspections completed, actions closed, training completion)
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects that simplify and standardize EHS processes

Job Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through with a safety-first mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); ability to maintain logs and trackers
  • Strong communication skills and comfort partnering with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to follow established procedures and raise concerns when something appears unsafe or unclear
  • Preferred: familiarity with OSHA/EPA concepts
  • Physical/Work Requirements: ability to work on-site at PTC; ability to walk through the facility for inspections (including stairs as needed); ability to sit/stand for extended periods and work at a computer for much of the day; ability to occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs (e.g., binders, training materials, small equipment)

Equal opportunity employer as to all protected groups, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.
