POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Assistant

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Director

Salary Range: $16.71 to $25.62
PRIMARY DUTY
The primary purpose of the Maintenance Assistant is to ensure facility maintenance policies and procedures are accomplished in a efficient, cost-effective manner to safely meet residents needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
EXPECTATIONS OF EMPLOYEE

- Observe all facility safety policies and procedures.
- Observe all facility infection control procedures
- Comply with state, federal, and all other applicable health care and safety standards
- Follow facility Residents Rights policies
- Protect the confidentiality of all resident information
- Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the facility culture and the expectations it incurs
- Exhibit consideration of how the facilitys culture affects our service to the veterans we serve
- Attend/complete required in-services and other required meetings
- Maintain valid license or certification as required for position
- Arrive at work in clean, neat attire and consistently present a professional appearance
- Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality
- Assist families and other visitors as needed
- Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner
- Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Maintain maintenance systems to meet residents needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
- Maintain maintenance policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
- Ensure daily productivity in the operation of the maintenance department.
- Request supplies to operate the maintenance department.
- Maintain safety data sheets (SDS). Enter information and maintain all required logs in a neat, organized and timely manner.
- Keep all necessary records organized to operate the maintenance department.
- Ensure maintenance schedules are checked for all areas of the facility and grounds.
- Ensure schedules are checked for repair and maintenance by contractors.
- Orient new employees to maintenance duties.
- Perform maintenance procedures, waste disposal procedures, proper care and use of maintenance equipment in accordance with facility policy.
- Identify, report to administration and schedule repair of any equipment malfunction and areas in poor repair. Perform maintenance and repair procedures in accordance with facility policy.
- Utilize maintenance equipment and supplies in a cost-effective manner.
- Attend in-service training programs for maintenance employees.
- Assume Quality Assurance duties as completed.
EDUCATIONS and EXPERIENCE an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
This position requires a High School diploma (or equivalent) technical school, and a minimum of three to 5 years long-term care experience is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
