JOB SUMMARY
We're seeking a Controller with strong technical skills to manage accounting and finance independently in a detail-oriented environment. You'll need to be highly accurate and work in a fast-paced environment. This is a hands-on role that requires self-reliance.
The Controller will handle monthly accounting, financial closing, and reporting, working directly with the Director of Finance to deliver timely and accurate financial reports. You'll maintain existing reporting systems, use best practices, and prioritize delivering accurate reports to support the Client Operations department.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, deadline-driven, and organized. Strong communication skills, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential. We are looking for team players, not superstars.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Reports to Director of Finance.
Supervises Finance Associates and remote Accounting Clerks.
KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Individual Objectives
1. Time to Close: Meet financial closing goals based on the number of business days.
2. Accuracy: Produce accurate results with minimal corrections.
3. Client Satisfaction: Client feedback.
4. Team Player: Peer review and assessment.
TOTAL COMPENSATION COMPOSITION
Base Salary: Guaranteed annual compensation.
Annual Bonus: Performance-based compensation calculated as a percentage of Base Salary and paid out annually.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Execute the monthly accounting and closing process for timely and accurate reporting.
2. Generate financial reports for management.
3. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
4. Handle treasury accounting, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, accounts payable, and client bill payments, and account for investments.
5. Collaborate with the Director of Finance to achieve financial goals.
6. Use ERP, CRM, and other systems for financial accounting and reporting.
7. Produce investment reports for various asset types.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORAL CHARACTERISTICS
1. Understand various accounting bases like GAAP, Cash, and Income Tax.
2. Knowledge of income and estate taxes.
3. Proficiency in Adobe and MS Office products.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
2. 5 years of general accounting experience.
