What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Community position at TEN?
Head of Community
TEN | Full-time | In-person, Denver, CO
Role Summary
TEN is building the premier peer network for technology leaders. Our members are founders, CEOs, and executives running many of Colorado's fastest-growing and most consequential companies.
We're looking to hire a Head of Community to own the member experience end-to-end. You'll take over the community engine from the founder - including onboarding, member introductions, planning & running dinners, member engagement, and build the systems and playbook that power TEN's next stage of growth.
You’re not inheriting a mature playbook. You're helping build it.
You must be a builder. Relentlessly organized, calm under pressure, and energized by creating exceptional experiences & outcomes for others. You don't wait for someone to tell you what to do - you see what needs to happen and make it happen.
At TEN, action is the strategy. You take pride in what you get done every day.
About TEN
TEN is a curated peer network of Colorado's top tech executives. Our members run some of the most consequential companies in the state, and they join TEN because the experience is impactful, meaningful, enjoyable, and worth their scarcest resource: time. We're roughly 70 members today, on our way to 150 in Denver before opening new markets starting in 2027.
The founder currently runs the community machine himself. Your job is to take it over and run it better.
What you'll actually do
Own the event machine, end to end. The dinner calendar, venue sourcing and restaurant contracts, rosters and RSVPs, run-of-show, facilitator prep, day-of execution in the room, and post-dinner notes and follow-up shipped by the next morning. If a TEN dinner happens, you made it happen and you ran it.
Own Member Experience & Outcomes. You own how it feels to be a TEN member. From the moment someone joins, you're driving their experience - a great onboarding, the right introductions, thoughtful follow-up after every dinner, and proactive check-ins so no member goes quiet. Success looks like members who renew, refer, and point to TEN as an unfair advantage in building their companies.
Be the front line of member communication. Portal questions, onboarding logistics, event prep, and general "can you help me with X" requests. Every member inquiry gets a response asap.
Run programming logistics. Source and coordinate speakers for all-member events, manage sponsor deliverables at events, and make sure the right members are at the right dinners.
Make curated connections. Learn every member's business, priorities, and current challenges. Make thoughtful, warm introductions between members. Log every intro and touch into our internal operating system so we can track impact. Watch engagement, and proactively reconnect members who've gone quiet before they drift.
Be the organized backbone. Keep our internal operating system clean on event and attendance data. Maintain the checklists and playbooks that make a CEO dinner look effortless. The bar: hand you chaos, get back a run-of-show.
Your first 90 days
- Day 30: You've shadowed the full dinner cycle and run your first dinner solo, end to end.
- Day 60: You own the entire event calendar - venues booked, rosters managed, comms flowing - with the founder fully out of the logistics loop.
- Day 90: Member communications run through you by default, and every member is on a clear path to renewal - you know their goals, they're getting connected, and you’re driving their companies forward.
Who thrives here
- A track record (3–7 years) of delivering white-glove experiences - whether that was in other Exec networks, head of platform roles, other community-oriented businesses, or ops, people you served stayed, renewed, and raved about the experience.
- You're obsessive about details and love running events. You can track 40 open loops without dropping one.
- You want to build at an early-stage company. It's not glamorous - you'll lay out name cards, chase RSVPs, work long hours - but in the long run, you’ll have built the foundation of what TEN becomes.
- You’re a strong communicator. Both in written comms and confident holding your own with execs & founders at events.
- You move fast & take action.
- You thrive with ownership. Within your area, you'll be trusted to make decisions quickly without waiting for approval. We value judgment, initiative, and people who see a problem and solve it before anyone has to ask.
- You understand the Tech world. You don't need to be an engineer, but you understand how startups and tech companies work - funding rounds, exits, the difference between a Series A founder and a PE-backed CEO.
What this job is not
We're listing this because role clarity matters to us as much as it should to you:
- Not a sales role. No quota, no outbound, no closing new members.
- Not a strategy-only role. We want your ideas, and you'll have meaningful input into how TEN evolves. But your primary responsibility is turning those ideas into an exceptional member experience every single week.
- Not marketing. Brand and content are handled separately.
Success is Measured By

- Great onboarding & overall member experience
- Notable member outcomes
- Flawless event execution allowing the Founder to spend more time with members
- Engaged members both in the portal and in-person
- A clearly differentiated and highly sought after product for tech leaders
