Job Description:
We are seeking dependable and caring individuals to join a pool of Substitute Teachers for a special-purpose private school in Presque Isle. This flexible, on-call opportunity offers a great way to gain classroom experience while making a meaningful impact in the local community. For the right candidate, this role may also lead to long-term or permanent opportunities within the school system.
The Substitute Teacher plays an important role in supporting students and maintaining a positive learning environment in the absence of regular classroom teachers. Responsibilities include following lesson plans, taking attendance, managing classroom behavior, assisting students with assignments, and ensuring a safe and respectful atmosphere for all learners. This position may also include supervising students during lunch, recess, or other school activities.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise classrooms, lunch periods, recess, and/or study halls as assigned.
- Take attendance and monitor student engagement throughout the day.
- Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by teachers and school administrators.
- Support students with assignments in a positive and professional manner.
- Adapt to the needs of different classrooms, grade levels, and learning environments.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom environment.
- Enforce school rules, behavioral expectations, and daily routines.
- Address minor disruptions or conflicts appropriately.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent education required.
- Ability to complete all required emergency response and physical safety trainings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Interest in working with students of varying ages and needs.
- Background check and fingerprinting through the Department of Education required.
