Transitional Congregational Leader (Rabbi/Cantor)

Temple Sinai is a vibrant Reform Synagogue focused on enriching Jewish life through a diverse array of religious, educational, and community programs. The synagogue hosts weekly worship services and offers religious education for both children and adults. Temple Sinai also organizes events that celebrate Jewish holidays and significant life cycle milestones, including B’nai Mitzvahs, weddings, and other commemorations. This is an on-site, part-time role located in Houston, TX for a Transitional Congregational Leader (Rabbi/Cantor). The leader will be responsible for providing spiritual direction, leading weekly worship services, and officiating at Jewish life cycle events such as B’nai Mitzvahs and weddings. Duties include offering pastoral counseling, engaging in pastoral care, and supporting Jewish education programs for adults and children. The leader will collaborate with the congregation’s leaders and members to ensure the continuity of meaningful religious and community activities.

• Proficiency in Spiritual Direction and Theology to lead worship services and provide religious guidance.
• Expertise in Pastoral Counseling and Pastoral Care to support the congregation’s emotional and spiritual needs.
• Strong background in Jewish Education to lead and enhance learning programs for all age groups.
• Ability to connect with and inspire a diverse congregation, fostering a warm and inclusive community.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with synagogue leadership and community members.
• Ordination as a Rabbi or Cantor from a recognized seminary or equivalent qualifications. Experience in leading a congregation is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with Reform Jewish customs, traditions, and values is preferred
