SUMMARY:
The DualFlex College Mentor is a certified high school teacher who serves as the on-campus student success partner for high school students enrolled in Temple College DualFlex courses. Working collaboratively with the Temple College Instructor of Record (IOR), Dual Credit Enrollment Advisors, counselors, and campus personnel, the DualFlex College Mentor provides in-person support that promotes student engagement, academic success, college readiness, and persistence.
The DualFlex College Mentor reinforces college-level expectations while helping students develop executive functioning skills, self-advocacy, time management, organization, and independent learning habits. This role supports students in navigating the college learning environment while maintaining the rigor, integrity, and expectations of Temple College coursework. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

This is an on-site position. Essential duties of the role must be performed in-person during prescribed work hours aligned with the high school instructional schedule and DualFlex class meeting times.

Varies based on DualFlex course assignment and ISD scheduling needs.

- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Valid teaching certification in the applicable content area or closely related field.
- Experience working with secondary or postsecondary students in an instructional setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency with educational technology platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Employed by a high school participating in the Temple College DualFlex program.
CERTIFICATION OR LICENSES:
- Valid Texas teaching certification in the DualFlex subject area served.
- Completion of D2L navigation and student support training through the Temple College DualFlex Summer Academy.
- Participation in a one-half day planning and orientation meeting with the assigned IOR.
- Signed acknowledgment of the DualFlex Handbook.
- Dual Flex Course Mentor Performance Expectations and Role Parameters.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of dual credit and postsecondary instructional environments.
- Knowledge of FERPA regulations and student privacy requirements.
- Knowledge of student success strategies and academic support resources.
- Knowledge of educational technology platforms, including D2L and Microsoft 365.
SKILLS:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Skilled in facilitating classroom engagement and monitoring student progress.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with secondary and postsecondary stakeholders.
ABILITIES:
- Ability to maintain academic rigor while supporting student success.

- Ability to manage classroom operations and student support activities simultaneously.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Ability to move throughout classroom and campus environments as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed primarily in a high school classroom setting.
- Frequent interaction with students, faculty, counselors, administrators, and college personnel.
- Occasional travel between high school campuses and Temple College locations may be required.
