Maintenance/Custodian

Job Title: Custodian/ Maintenance/ Event Set Up

Temple Beth Shalom

Reports to Executive Director

Hours: 25-30 hours per week

Non-Exempt

Under the direction of the Facilities Coordinator, this position performs a variety of facilities maintenance tasks in offices, classrooms, restrooms in campus buildings and all surrounding land areas.

All responsibilities are expected to be carried out in a positive and respectful manner that supports and advances the mission and vision of Temple Beth Shalom.

· Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Carpentry

· Plumbing

· Electrical

· Cement finishing

· Masonry

· Glazing

· Minor heating and refrigeration repairs

· Locksmith work

· Metal work

· Roofing

· Painting and Plastering

· Pest Control

· Moving tables and chairs for program and event set up needs

· Light gardening such as weed pulling and shrub pruning/ transplanting flowers, watering

· General maintenance and upkeep of Temple campus grounds

· Additional duties may be assigned as needed and depending on workload and Temple needs

Requirements

This is a skilled level position requiring 2-3 years or more of experience

Preferred understandings and references for:

· Consistency and dependability

· Handyman, repair & maintenance background

· Specialization with electrical, mechanical, carpentry, painting, equipment repair if possible

· Minimum High School Diploma

· Valid Driver’s license and car or truck

· Language skills – must be able to read and write English; Spanish helpful for vendor communication

· Use of Technology – adapt to computer systems, online camera system

· Mathematical skills

· Ability to problem solve and follow maps for set up of all events and holidays

· Ability to handle comments and requests from different staff and board members and set priorities with your supervisor

· Observes safety and security procedures

Physical Demands of Position

Must be able to carry at least 50 lbs

Frequently required to stand and walk

Work inside and outside in all types of weather

Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed ad scheduled

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
