We are seeking a Database Specialist to join our team in supporting the Air Force Information Network (AFIN), a vital infrastructure portfolio for the Department of the Air Force (DAF) that ensures reliable, high-speed digital communications across various Air Force and Space Force programs. The Database Specialist will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust database solutions that support operational requirements and enhance the performance of AFIN systems. This role involves collaboration with multiple teams to ensure data integrity, availability, and security across Active-Duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard bases worldwide.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement database management tools and solutions that support business operations.
- Administer and maintain BMC Remedy AR System server and associated systems, ensuring effective incident and change management functionalities.
- Manage and maintain Oracle database Real-Time Application Cluster (RAC) and Grid Control, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Perform regularly scheduled security and maintenance patching on database systems and applications.
- Conduct quarterly security audits of database configurations to ensure compliance with security policies.
- Monitor database performance, evaluate processing and programming issues, and develop protocols for improvement.
- Create and implement disaster recovery procedures and access control policies to secure database integrity.
- Support the integration and testing of database systems with third-party applications as required.
- Conduct ongoing system tests and database backup functions to ensure data protection and recovery capabilities.
- Stay updated on industry trends, educational opportunities, and best practices to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Desired Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- A minimum of 7 years of experience, preferably on Department of Defense (DoD) programs.
- Completion of F5 University Training Courses, including:
- Getting Started with BIG-IP: Part 1 – Administration
- Getting Started with BIG-IP: Part 2 – Application Delivery
- Getting Started with Local Traffic Manager: Part 1 – HA and Traffic Processing
- Getting Started with Local Traffic Manager: Part 2 – iRules and Accelerating Traffic
- Getting Started with BIG-IP DNS
- Information Assurance (IA) Technician (IAT) Level II (DODM 8140)
- Microsoft Azure Administrator or equivalent
- Linux Certification
- BMC Certified Administrator: BMC Remedy IT Service Management 8.x and/or equivalent
- Valid DoD Secret clearance is required. Additionally, NATO Secret and/or DoD Top Secret/SSBI clearances, favorably adjudicated for SCI eligibility, are required at certain locations.
