Nature Center Interpreter

Job Summary

Inspire and educate guests at the St. Sophia Nature Center! As a Nature Center Interpreter, you’ll provide environmental education, trail guidance, and guest services while overseeing daily operations, including retail sales and inventory.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage visitors with information on local wildlife, geology, vegetation, and history.
• Promote Leave No Trace ethics and provide hiking/biking guidance.
• Lead educational sessions for children and camp groups.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming Nature Center.
• Process sales transactions and manage inventory.
• Deliver exceptional guest service and support TSG’s mission.
• Stay informed on trail conditions and safety guidelines.
• Adhere to company policies and uphold professional appearance standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

• Knowledge of local ecosystems, wildlife, and outdoor recreation.
• Strong communication and public engagement skills.
• Experience working with children and environmental education.
• Professionalism in handling animals.
• Familiarity with Telluride/Mountain Village hiking and biking trails.
• Ability to use email, radio communication, and point-of-sale systems.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a related field.
  
  

Education & Experience

• Degree in environmental studies, education, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in environmental interpretation and guest engagement.
