Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, detail-oriented Service Writer with Parts support to join our team or Parts and Service Manager. Perhaps you are a former technician that is looking to get out of the physical aspect of the job and has a passion for finding the best solution for a piece of equipment and the client while working with people that like to get the job done? This position is exactly that! The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers by providing exceptional service and facilitating communication between customers and our technicians. This role is essential in ensuring that all service requests are accurately documented and that customers are informed about their equipment's needs and or options they have. This position is also expected to support our technicians with researching and allocating the best parts for the technicians/client of the job at hand. We are not a large dealership, because of that we are able to provide a lot of variability in how we can provide the best options for our clients expectations. We are a small, locally based, family ran business that honors a can do work ethic. Teamwork, an upbeat atmosphere, and attention to detail are important to us so that we can build strong relationships with each other and our clients. Experience
- Prior experience in equipment repair, parts, service writing or service management.
- Knowledge of equipment repair processes.
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and undercarriages.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assess their service needs.
- Takes and makes phone calls for the equipment service department to answer customer questions, listen to customer issues, make appointments for repairs, give updates on repairs, get authorization for additional needed repairs, etc. Document customer requests and equipment issues accurately in the system.
- Communicates and collaborates effectively with technicians to relay customer requests/equipment concerns
- Provide detailed explanations of diagnosis of machine and the plan of action for repair required
- Upsell additional services when appropriate, ensuring customers understand the benefits and or needs. However also understand that some customers need the best financial flexibility and or option for their business.
- Maintain accurate records of service history and customer interactions.
- Follow up with customers regarding service status and completion.
- Ensure a clean and organized workspace for optimal customer experience
- Works with shop technician, field technicians and owners to ensure smooth operations.
- Opens, writes and bills repair orders
- Work with technicians to formulate repair quotes when requested and schedule equipment repairs to keep a manageable work-flow in the shop.
- File warranty claims and recoup warranty dollars if needed with Generac or other heavy equipment needs
- Monitor inventory of supplies and vendor specific service tool inventories needed for equipment repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
