Windows System Administrator

Description

System Administrator responsible for Level 2 and Level 3 support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance analysis, and issue resolution across Windows Server environments, File Share technologies, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms. This role is primarily day shift, with periodic weekend, off-hours coverage, and participation in a regular on call rotation.

• Candidate must demonstrate broad knowledge across core infrastructure disciplines and a strong understanding of IT standards, methodologies, and operational best practices.

• Maintains smooth operation of multi user computing environments with a focus on enterprise file share services and virtualization technologies (Nutanix AHV).

• Strong interpersonal skills required to collaborate effectively with both technical and non technical teams during complex or high severity incidents.

• Must possess advanced technical expertise in Windows Server administration and Nutanix AHV virtualization—capable of conflict resolution, identifying alternatives, and driving incidents through to resolution.

• Experience with Dell Technologies including PowerFlex, PowerEdge, and Dell XC Nutanix clusters.

• Work involves close collaboration with application and database teams to analyze system issues, provide resolutions, and identify root causes.

• Experience with ServiceNow is desirable; experience in healthcare or regulated industries is highly preferred.

• Perform or coordinate server migrations across Nutanix AHV clusters and between physical/virtual platforms (P2V) in partnership with cross functional teams.

• Participate in team meetings, project discovery sessions, and technical discussions with customers and project managers.

• Install, upgrade, harden, and patch Windows Server environments.

• Resolve issues and proactively identify actions to prevent recurrence; escalate when necessary.

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support operational and business needs.

Other Duties:

• Participate in project intake and discovery meetings with global teams and customers to design Windows and Linux server environments across Asia Pacific and other global data centers.

• Create system design documentation, cost estimates, and workflow templates to support project planning and execution.

• Review application and disaster recovery (DR) requirements to ensure high availability, resilient, and compliant infrastructure designs.

• Request vendor quotes, coordinate hardware procurement, and partner with build teams for installation and OS deployment.

• Perform system administration tasks including installation and configuration of hypervisors, particularly Nutanix AHV.

• Collaborate with project managers and application teams to translate system requirements into appropriate server designs and architecture options.

• Execute or coordinate server migrations (e.g., Nutanix cluster migrations, P2V conversions).

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Waukegan, IL.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
