Cabling And Access Control Technician

Job Description

We are seeking multiple Access Control / Low-Voltage Technicians to support large-scale commercial projects throughout the Charleston area. This is an immediate need with long-term project work already scheduled across county facilities, school districts, and a major airport installation.

Technicians will work on new construction and service projects, performing hands-on installations of access control systems, door hardware, surveillance equipment, and structured cabling. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced technicians as well as motivated installers looking to grow their access control careers.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and support electronic access control systems and related components
• Perform door hardware installations, including electrified locks, strikes, readers, sensors, crash bars, and door operators
• Install and terminate low-voltage cabling (Cat5/Cat6 and fiber)
• Assist with video surveillance (VMS) and head-end equipment installations
• Follow safety standards and maintain a clean, professional jobsite
• Collaborate closely with field teams, project managers, and supervisors

• Structured cabling (Cat5/Cat6, fiber, low voltage)
• Access control systems (Lenel, S2, Genetec, Software House, Avigilon)
• Video surveillance systems (IP and analog cameras)
• Door hardware installation and integration
• Familiarity with Allegion and ASSA ABLOY hardware
  
  
  

Preferred Experience

• 2 years of commercial cable installation or low-voltage experience
• Experience as an electrical apprentice, low-voltage installer, or commercial technician
• Experience working as part of a team on active construction jobsites
  
  
  

Tools & Equipment

• Technicians are expected to bring basic hand tools
• Specialized tools and PPE are provided
  
  
  

Project & Work Environment

• Projects include airports, county buildings, and school districts
• Long-term workload already scheduled with consistent hours
• If work slows locally, teams may meet at a central office location and travel together to nearby sites
• Airport project expected to last 3–6 months, with potential follow-on service work

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Summerville, SC.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
