The ideal candidate will have early-career experience in general litigation, along with strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities. Experience or exposure to insurance defense, professional liability, product liability, or appellate matters is preferred but not required. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic, with the ability to manage responsibilities independently while collaborating effectively with the broader legal team.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Assisting with all phases of defence litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation
- Drafting legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and legal memoranda
- Conducting legal research and preparing comprehensive reports and legal analysis
- Participating in court conferences, depositions, and hearings as appropriate
- Managing deadlines and ensuring compliance with client guidelines
- Maintaining accurate time records and billing entries
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of litigation experience, preferably in a law firm setting
- Admission to practice in Connecticut (additional bar admissions in NY, NJ, or PA are a plus)
- Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a demonstrated work ethic
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines consistently
- Federal court or appellate experience is a plus, but not required
