Job Summary:
The Legal Assistant will provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys and paralegals in a defense-focused law firm environment. This role involves managing schedules, preparing legal documents, maintaining case files, and ensuring timely communication and compliance with court procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- File and serve motions, discovery, and pleadings
- Schedule court appearances, depositions, and client meetings
- Monitor deadlines and maintain attorneys’ calendars
- Draft basic litigation-related documents and correspondence
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical client files
- Download and manage court documents and pleadings
- Provide administrative support including email, document handling, and mail processing
- Communicate with court personnel, attorneys, and clients professionally
- Process payments and reimbursements
Qualifications:
- 2 years of Legal Assistant experience in a law firm (defense litigation preferred)
- Knowledge of litigation processes and court procedures
- Experience with electronic filing in state and federal courts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with document management and billing software preferred
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
- Typing speed of at least 65 WPM
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a fast-paced environment
