What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager - Precision Machining position at TekPro?
General Manager – CNC Machining Operations
TekPro is a specialized recruiting firm focused on precision manufacturing, engineering and operational leadership. We partner with established machining and manufacturing organizations to identify high-impact leaders who understand both the technical demands of the operation and the commercial side of the business.
We are conducting a search for a General Manager to lead a newly acquired, highly successful CNC machining operation. The company operates from a 70,000-square-foot facility, serves a diversified customer base and has a strong concentration in the medical instrument market.
This is not a turnaround or aggressive cost-cutting assignment. The business is profitable, well-established and backed by a highly reputable, growth-oriented private equity group. The incoming General Manager will be expected to build upon an already strong foundation, support continued investment and position the operation for its next phase of growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide full P&L and operational leadership for the facility
• Lead machining, engineering, quality, supply chain and customer-facing functions
• Develop and execute strategies focused on organic growth, capacity expansion and operational scalability
• Strengthen leadership structure, accountability and communication across the organization
• Maintain strong relationships with existing customers while supporting new business development
• Drive improvements in throughput, delivery, quality and profitability without compromising the company’s long-term capabilities
• Partner closely with ownership on strategic planning, capital investment and future growth initiatives
• Maintain a strong culture centered on safety, quality, responsiveness and employee development
Ideal Background
• Senior plant leadership experience within CNC machining or precision manufacturing
• Strong understanding of complex, close-tolerance machining operations
• Proven P&L ownership and experience leading a multidisciplinary manufacturing organization
• Experience serving medical device, aerospace, medical instrument or similarly regulated customers is strongly preferred
• Commercially minded leader who can support customer relationships and revenue growth
• Experience scaling a successful operation rather than solely managing turnarounds or cost-reduction initiatives
• Comfortable working within a private equity-backed or highly growth-oriented ownership structure
• Strong, visible leadership style with the ability to earn credibility across the shop floor and executive level
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a successful operation with an established customer base, strong financial backing and meaningful resources available for continued growth.
