Mechatronics Maintenance Technician, PLC/Drives

TekPro is aligning with a world-class manufacturer to hire a Mechatronics Maintenance Technician for its Des Plaines, IL facility. On the overnight shift, you’ll be the first line of defense against unexpected equipment issues and the driving force behind proactive reliability.

It’s 2:13 a.m. A production line trips. You isolate the fault, verify voltages across a 480V circuit, dive into the Allen‑Bradley PLC program to trace a failed input, and swap a sensor. Minutes later, the conveyors are moving and product is flowing. Before you wrap up, you finish a predictive maintenance check, log everything in the CMMS, and restock the spare bin—safely and by the book with Lockout/Tagout.

• Rapid triage and repair of mechanical, electrical, and controls issues across production and facility systems during night operations.
• Expert interpretation of wiring diagrams, schematics, mechanical prints, and OEM manuals.
• Maintenance and overhaul of motors, pumps, gearboxes, chillers, compressors, and PLC-based automation (Allen‑Bradley).
• Preventive and predictive maintenance routines that elevate reliability and reduce MTTR/MTBF concerns.
• Use of multimeters, PLC software, and test instruments to evaluate and validate performance.
• Thorough documentation of labor, parts, and findings within the CMMS.
• Swift, safe response to production calls; strong partnership with operators and leads.
• Strict adherence to plant safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout.
• Support for inventory control and disciplined tool/spares organization.
• Active participation in continuous improvement and reliability-centered maintenance projects.

• 3 years in industrial maintenance or electro‑mechanical roles in a manufacturing setting.
• Depth in AC/DC motors, sensors, relays, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Hands-on experience with PLCs (Allen‑Bradley preferred), motor controls, and automated machinery.
• Fluency reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Bonus: familiarity with flexible packaging assets—extrusion, lamination, flexographic printing, slitting.
• Self-directed, comfortable working independently on the night shift and handling emergency breakdowns.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; capable of climbing, bending, and standing for long periods.
• Forklift certified or willing to earn certification.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, or related field preferred.
