Quality Lab Tech (2nd Shift)

Job Summary

Supports manufacturing through the inspection and assessment of product quality.

Shift Hours: 2:45pm - 11:00pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following.

• Must also have a good understanding of all other manufacturing technologies currently being utilized in the manufacturing process including but not limited to:
• Extrusion lamination and coating
• Adhesive lamination
• Gravure coating and printing
• Following standard methods and techniques, inspects and tests product to ensure it meets customer and product specifications, and alert production when standards are not met
• Monitors product tracking methods (i.e. UPC, date stamps, etc.). Maintains customer samples.
• Puts questionable product on hold, organize re-work if necessary, and inspect returned product.
• Prepares routine reports – including gathering and summarizing data
• Tests and verifies raw materials as needed.
• Assists in training quality and production employees in quality assurance procedures and standards
• Follows and participates in plant safe housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment. Participates in the GMP
• Performs Capability and Gage R&R Studies monitoring process improvement efforts.
• Advises production personnel of quality problems & works together with Supervision to develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans.

• Previous quality assurance experience preferred.
• Ability to input and retrieve information on a computer.
• Basic understanding of equipment and processes.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills using tact and diplomacy.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Basic mathematical skills and understanding of units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense and problem solve.
  
  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

• Frequently stand, walk, talk, and hear.
• Occasionally sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and smell.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to:

• Frequently moving mechanical parts.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and vibration.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually loud, and wearing hearing protection is required.
