JOB SUMMARY
The Production Helper on BW5 is responsible for assisting in the creation of a compliant wax coated substrate used to create a quality lidding material for the customer in a timely manner, creating the least amount of scrap as possible.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read/follow written process instructions for all products produced on machine.
- Obtain work order for scheduled item and request materials from forklift driver.
- Verify that proper materials have been received to the machine.
- Assist with compound preparation as needed.
- Support machine setup by assisting with air pressure, brake tension, temperature dials, buttons, and gauges in accordance with work order parameters.
- Assist with assembling/disassembling of Slot Die Head.
- Assist in adjusting the placement and angle of the slot die Blocks.
- Set-ups raw material rolls on the machine, ensuring proper threading to work order.
- Assist the operator in obtaining correct weights and securing QA approval prior to start-up.
- Assist with material and adhesive inspections during production.
- Assist in the monitoring equipment performance and process output.
- Collaborate with operator to ensure completion of proper testing, meetings order/customer specifications.
- Assist in the completion of production paperwork and enters information into operating system.
- Support training new operators on proper setup and operation of the machine (including compounds).
- Assist in troubleshooting operating issues and material specification concerns.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the assigned area at the end of each shift.
- Ensure proper setup is completed to support a successful transition to the next shift.
- Perform related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Acknowledge that duties may be revised or expanded based on business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Laminator and/or Extrusion operator preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detailed-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work and think independently and as a team member.
- Ability to perform OJT training.
- Adhere to all company safety/health rules
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
- Frequently reach and/or bend to make machine adjustments/modifications.
- Frequently push and/or pull carts, move materials and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Stand and walk throughout the workday (8 to 12 hours shifts)
- Frequently load and unload shafts, weighing 40 to 60 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed:
- Exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
- Work performed in moderate to loud noise environments.
