Role: Data Reporting Analyst

Duration: 6 months

Location: Hybrid – 1 day/week in Oakland, CA

Position Overview:

Data Reporting Analyst (Contractor) to support the Managed Self Service (MSS) initiative within the Enterprise Data & Analytics organization. The MSS program enables business users to perform self-service analytics in a governed environment leveraging Power BI and Snowflake to drive trusted, data-driven insights. This role will focus on usage compliance, access management, user enablement, and day-to-day program operations, ensuring the MSS platform is adopted effectively while adhering to enterprise governance standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Usage Monitoring, Compliance, and Reporting

• Implement and manage processes to monitor Power BI workspace and Snowflake usage.
• Track compliance with MSS guidelines, policies, and standards.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting for usage metrics, adoption, and compliance trends.
• Identify and escalate non-compliant usage patterns and support remediation efforts.
• Support ongoing monitoring and auditing initiatives aligned with MSS governance practices.

2. Access Management & Onboarding Support

• Manage user access requests for Power BI workspaces and Snowflake.
• Facilitate onboarding of new users, including provisioning and coordination with technology teams.
• Ensure access aligns with role-based governance and data security policies.
• Maintain tracking of requests, approvals, and onboarding SLAs.

3. User Support & Enablement

• Provide ongoing support to MSS users following Data Literacy training.
• Act as a point of contact for Power BI and dashboard-related questions.
• Assist users in navigating Power BI workspaces, understanding datasets and dashboards, and performing basic data exploration using Snowflake/SQL.
• Reinforce best practices for report development, documentation, and data usage.

4. Documentation & SharePoint Management

• Maintain and update the MSS SharePoint site, including documentation, onboarding guides, and training materials.
• Ensure documentation reflects current processes, tools, and governance standards.
• Support the organization and accessibility of MSS resources for end users.

5. Project Coordination & Change Management

• Support day-to-day MSS project execution, including status tracking and reporting.
• Manage dependencies across teams and coordinate communications and updates to stakeholders.
• Assist with rollout of updates to MSS processes, tools, and standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of MSS operating model.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, or 3 years of relevant experience in a quantitative analyst or analytics role in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

Required Skills

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI (reports, datasets, workspaces).
• Experience with Snowflake, including similar analytics environments.
• Proficiency in SQL for querying and analyzing data.
• Experience with data analysis, dashboard development, and usage monitoring.

Functional Skills

• Experience with data governance, compliance, or monitoring frameworks.
• Familiarity with self-service analytics environments.
• Ability to support business users with varying levels of technical expertise.

Project / Product Skills

• Experience supporting project or product management activities.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple workstreams.
• Experience with stakeholder communication and change management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in enterprise data platforms (EDP) or analytics COEs.
• Familiarity with Power BI workspace governance and lifecycle management.
• Exposure to Data Literacy programs or user training support.
• Experience with tools such as SharePoint, Jira, or similar collaboration platforms.
• Proficiency in data extraction technologies (SQL, scripting, spreadsheets, databases, reporting tools).
• Proficiency in ETL processes and integration of data sources.
• Proficiency in automating data acquisition and self-serve report design.
• Proficiency in data visualization using various data visualization technologies.
