Staff AccountantPosition Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client's accounting team. This position is responsible for supporting the company's day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting foundation, experience in a construction or project-based environment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Maintain the general ledger by preparing journal entries and reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts on a monthly basis.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Support job cost accounting by monitoring project budgets, job costs, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project managers to track project financials, including billing, Work in Progress (WIP) reporting, contract values, and change orders.
- Prepare and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions as needed.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare monthly insurance reporting and assist with other recurring financial and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Support certified payroll processing and reporting, when applicable.
- Maintain fixed asset records, calculate depreciation, and prepare related journal entries.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and financial controls.
- Provide accounting support for special projects and other finance-related initiatives as assigned.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction, engineering, manufacturing, or project-based services industry.
- Experience with job costing and construction accounting principles is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with modular construction, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and Work in Progress (WIP) reporting is a plus.
- Experience using accounting software such as Sage 300 CRE, Sage Intacct, or similar ERP systems preferred.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data analysis, and spreadsheet reporting.
- Knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practices.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
