What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician (3rd Shift) position at TEKBERRY?
Employment Type: Contract (Temp-to-Hire)
Duration: Estimated; conversion after 4 6 months
Schedule: Full-time
Day Shift: Graveyard shift - 10pm- 6:30am (days off are in the middle of the week)
This position goes well beyond basic automotive maintenance such as oil changes or tire replacements. Candidates must be comfortable working with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, reading schematics, and performing work at heights.

ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot and identify failure causes across rail vehicles, wayside systems, subsystems, and components
Perform corrective, recovery, and preventive maintenance following established procedures
Inspect vehicles and related equipment to detect failed or improperly operating components
Operate, troubleshoot, and repair rail vehicles, doors, guideway switches, power distribution systems, and related equipment
Perform electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system inspections using written and verbal instructions
Repair or replace defective parts utilizing manuals, schematics, drawings, and technical specifications
Support recovery of malfunctioning vehicles to restore system operations
Respond to system failures and customer requests in a timely manner
Assist passengers during emergency operations as required
Conduct thorough preventive maintenance checks on vehicles, systems, and subsystems
Achieve and maintain functional certifications in assigned areas
Participate in required training programs and continuous learning initiatives
Follow direction from senior technicians while exercising sound judgment during troubleshooting
1st & 2nd Level Maintenance: Coach (vehicle) maintenance
3rd Level Maintenance: Guideway maintenance
Approximately 70% of the role
Requires comfort working at heights
All shifts require training on 3rd (graveyard) shift for approximately 3 4 weeks, regardless of permanent shift assignment
Days off fall mid-week, not weekends
Ongoing training continues through the 4 6 month conversion period
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Driver's License
Hands-on mechanical or industrial maintenance experience
Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and technical documentation
Willingness and ability to work at heights and on guideway systems
Strong attendance and reliability (non-negotiable)
Ability to pass a federal background check, drug test, physical exam, and site-specific requirements
Motivated to learn and progress through structured training
This position is based at an airport facility and requires SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) clearance. Candidates must pass an airport-run federal background check and badging process completed onsite on Day One.
