Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Structural Design Technician to support advanced manufacturing and industrial facility projects, including semiconductor fabrication and support facilities. This role is responsible for developing conceptual and detailed 3D structural models, producing construction-ready documentation, and coordinating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
The ideal candidate will have strong Revit experience, industrial structural design background, and the ability to independently manage assigned work while also supporting small-team leadership responsibilities. Candidates should be able to contribute immediately with minimal training and demonstrate strong attention to detail, quality control, and coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 3D structural models from verbal direction, engineering input, rough sketches, and markups
- Produce complete sets of structural plans and detailed construction documentation
- Apply departmental and client drafting/modeling standards consistently
- Take ownership of assigned scope while meeting project schedule and quality expectations
- Perform thorough self-checks to verify completeness and accuracy of work
- Coordinate structural design activities with related engineering disciplines
- Review models and documents for quality assurance and compliance
- Support and coordinate small design teams by:
- Assigning and balancing workloads
- Monitoring progress and schedules
- Supporting clash-adjudicated design coordination
- Leading internal and cross-discipline reviews
- Participate in meetings and actively assist with problem-solving and coordination efforts
- Support continuous improvement and design automation initiatives
- Contribute to a collaborative and team-oriented project environment
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of drafting/design experience within the structural field
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on Revit experience
- Strong understanding of structural drafting and modeling concepts
- Ability to independently develop complete structural plan sets and details
- Strong communication and interpersonal leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
- 7 years of structural drafting/design experience
- 5 years of Revit experience
- Experience with:
- SmartPlant
- Tekla
- Navisworks
- Bluebeam
- Experience designing:
- Structural steel systems
- Concrete structures
- Experience supporting industrial or semiconductor-related facilities

Work Environment
This is a hybrid position requiring candidates to live within 50 miles of Portland, OR prior to starting. Team members are expected to work onsite at least two days per week.
Candidates must also:
- Maintain reliable internet service for remote work
- Be capable of occasional field walks when required, including:
- Climbing ladders
- Crawling under raised access floors
- Standing or walking for extended periods
Additional Notes
- Candidates with industrial structural design experience are strongly preferred over residential construction backgrounds
- The hiring team is seeking candidates who can “hit the ground running” with minimal ramp-up time
- Experience creating complete structural plans and detailed Revit models is essential
- Interview Process:
- Round 1: 30-minute virtual screening interview
- Round 2: Virtual panel interview
Pay: $45.00 - $47.00 per hour
